Hi All,
I'll be at this month's WARGS playtesting Hot War. There are 5 player slots so if you're interested jump over to the WARGS forum and let me know or PM me.
Either way I'll be there, but it would be nice to know I have 5 players before the day! _________________ Planning: A pulp/steampunk LARP, a sci fi short run

I just downloaded the preview pages of Hot War... that is spookyas! I don't have the full rules. Do you need folks to show up with a character and a copy of the rules? or just show up?

While I can't speak for Sophie, I can tell you that any WARGS GM who requires people to "show up with a character and a copy of the rules" will soon be a WARGS GM with no players. One of the reasons for going to WARGS is to try out new things, and I don't think there are any WARGS games which are open only to the knowledgeable. Even Grant's ongoing "Shadowrun" game is primarily populated by people who just grab characters from the pregen deck and either learn or re-learn the rules on the fly. (Target number in 4th ed is 5, right? Right? I promise I will remember one of these days.) That's part of the fun. As regards "Hot War," I for one will be showing up with no character, no copy of the rules and not having read the preview download... and proud of it, gosh darn it *grin*. |

Masada to answer you question, no you don't need to show up with an type of character or the rules. However the fact that you have read the rules is great! This is both a run through of a new game system and a play test for the Fright Night con coming up in a couple of weeks. Therefore I've planned it to be self contained and, all going well with my GMing skills, I'll explain the rules as we go and when they pop up. _________________ Planning: A pulp/steampunk LARP, a sci fi short run

Just as a general note, the standard in Wellington for one off scenarios like those run at Kapcon, Confusion, Fright Night and WARGS is that the GM will provide pregenerated PCs* and no rules or setting knowledge is assumed. That way it is easier to access the most players.
* Unless the system has an easy and quick PC generation system that adds to play such as PTA. _________________ Playing: Doomstones (WFRP2e); Shades of Terra (Exalted: Dragonblooded)

Hi all,
WARGS is on this Sunday and I'll be there with my Hot War game for Fright Night. I'll need at least 4 to run it, so hopefully that many people are interested!
Cheers. _________________ Planning: A pulp/steampunk LARP, a sci fi short run

Oh, I should mention that if cool stuff comes up in your game(s), please do feel free to add it to the Hot War Wiki.
Cheers
