I was wondering whether those people running one hour games and once-offs during the year could send me a brief blurb about their game. For the one-hour games we only need a line or two, for the once-offs a fuller KapCon style summary would be appreciated. I don't need these until the monday of the week the game will run.

If you, or someone you know would like to run another one-hour game, can you please ask them to contact me with a game title and a one or two line summary of the adventure by Monday morning? Games should be aimed at beginners and should be completable in one hour.

I don't have a specific volunteer for running a second once-off stream on 17/3/6. This isn't a problem, I will be able to run something, but over future weeks, any volunteers will be most appreciated.

Thanks.

This year we've had a lot of interest in the games club, with 98 sign-ups, considerably more than last year.

We kick off with the first meeting of the year on Friday the 10th in the Collins Room in the Student Union Building. Go to the atrium and look for the Games Club signs.

Each week we will be running an event, either a roleplaying once-off, a particular board game or CCG mini-cons. The special event this week is a series of one hour games designed to introduce roleplaying and allow people to meet other new club members. Each game lasts one hour and there will be a half hour break between rounds. There will also be board-gaming.

From 2PM onwards there will be informal board gaming.
At 6 PM we will formally open the club. The GMs who are running campaigns will each pitch their game, and interested players can ask questions and sign up. Campaigns will begin either later that evening or on 17/3 depending on player demand.
At 7 PM we will begin the introductory games.

This year we'll also be printing t-shirts with the new club logo designed by Nick Cole. Details are still being finalised but they will be available in several colours and sizes and cost approximately $20 each.If interested, please let us know at the meeting or by e-mail.

The first meeting is the last chance to get club membership for $5. After Friday this will rise to $10. Club membership entitles you to come along on Friday nights from 2PM to 11 PM and play any of the club's array of board games. This year club membership also entitles you to a 10% discount on second hand books at Arty Bees. Membership cards wil be issued at the second meeting on 17/3.

The Four Introductory Games:

Shopping with the Dead (Alasdair Sinclair)
Today's been idyllic. There aren't any bratty kids or querulous housewives, and the asshole store manager's phoned in sick with an infected bite. Let the good times roll.

Welcome to Claremont (Paul Wilson)
Welcome to the Academy, this is your first day and things are about to go horribly wrong. the silencer has taken you and your class mates hostage in the school gym. You and your friends spot a opening. Now is the time!

Firefly: A Wing and a Prayer (Nick Cole)
The crew of Serenity land on Persephone in search of gainful employment. But things never go smooth do they?

Blue Rose (Conan McKegg)
High adventure in a fantasy world.

The Three Evening Campaigns:

Claremont Academy (Paul Wilson)
A teen superheroes game set in Freedom, Massachusetts in 2001.

Claremont academy was founded in 1871 by Dr Charles Claremont; it quickly found a reputation as one of the finest preparatory schools in the county. The students of Claremont often go one to become leaders of industry and other important public figures.

In the 1980s under pressure to change in the face of a changing needs and waning reputation the academy was forced to close its doors.

Soon after this the wealthy philanthropist Duncan Summers purchased the academy and began to restore the buildings and facilities bringing them up to a state of the art standard.

Inundated with new enrolments the new headmaster Dr Summers reopened the school in 1996 and has accepted on the cream of the crop into his school for the gifted.

You have been accepted into the special program at Claremont. Your powers have started to show themselves, and with the current backlash against the metahuman population you have been sent to this school to learn to control your powers.

Welcome to Claremont academy.

Pride, Prejudice & Decent! (Zak Clark and Dan L'Estrange)

It was pouring down with rain when the old Lord and the Cleric arrived at the ruins of Grey-Hammer. The Cleric looked over to the man she had grown to respect over the past few months…

“Man is not meant to meddle in affairs of the higher powers she said to him...

The old Lord looked back at her with a bemused smirk across his face…

”Who are the Gods to say what man can and cannot do my angel, Do the gods guide my steel or put food before me?… Nay, All the gods do is wallow in their own self pity and denial…

She listened to him carry on, She could sense his arrogant confidence and a sickly feeling rolled through her stomach...

The days of Gods are numbered my friend he said… Soon there will be new lords and ladies in the halls of the celestials… And Ao be damned… And that watcher of the realms he has…

The game itself will be set in Ardming in the year 1342 – The Time of Prosperity. The group will be based in the foothills of Madlow Mountains on the western side of Atratia and rumors have begun to get back to the company that the humanoid nation of Hakard is gearing up for war, again…

The players will be part of a mercenary group called “The Righteous Iron Fist” (TRIF) who are part of the larger organization known as “The Imperial Gauntlet” (TIG) and are loan to the nation of Atratia. The entire group will start as trained individuals (3rd Level) and are under explicit orders to help the nation of Atratia in anyway they can and in all matters are to differ to their chain of command.

You are one of three TIG units in the area, the other two units are “The Left Iron Fist” (TLIF) & “The Imperial Iron Fist” (TIIF). The Righteous Iron Fist (Your Group) is basically a specialist group that is being groomed for later use in larger missions.

The Campaign itself is guaranteed to last the entire university year and depending how it goes will fly over into next year, It will also depend on how I feel at the end of the year. I’d prefer people who have never played in one of my D&D games but we will see who is interested I guess and take it from there.

Feel free to ask any questions as I am happy to answer them (This includes rules, setting data etc). I am happy to take names down for spots in the game now but will be making a final call after the 1st games club meet as to who is in.

Divided Galaxies (Nigel Ngan)

In the infinity of space, you are small fish in the big sea of the intergalactic underworld.

See you all Friday!

P.S. I took the liberty of e-mailing this to some people not members of the Games Club for their general information.

I had a great time and would like to thank all the players from my two Firefly games (Chris, Fraser, James, Liv, Matt, Michael, Nina, Rohan, Stephen, Sue-Ann, plus I'm forgetting one).

Excellent work by Mash and the Exec getting things organised!
