Session 3 - 2.5 hours?

I know this was discussed but I didn't realise that session 3 has been reduced to 2.5 hours.

Kapcon crew, is this confirmed? Its just that I will need to move my game as I planned for 3 hours and I can't reduce it by 30 minutes.

Yes it is confirmed. We're happy to move any games for which this is a problem.

Poopy Smile ROund 3 was reall good for horror games too.

I assume its OK to note in the "blurb" that it will be 3 hours, not 2.5. Sort of a LARPers beware. Or will the 2.5 hour limit be enforced?

What are we going to do - barge into your session, handcuff your players, and drag them away kicking and screaming the the LARP?

Just make it clear beforehand, and it'll be fine.

Cool. I guess I was meaning that I take Kapcon "suggestions" pretty seriously. If Kapcon doesn't want games to overrun round 3, then I would look to move rather than sneak in an extra 30 minutes.

I specifically requested not to run during Session 3 due to its shortened length. I think that lots of people come to Kapcon to roleplay and people write games to a set length, so I'd rather have a full session.

I totally understand the reasons the Kapcon team have given for the change, BTW!

My suggestion would be to just warn players before hand (maybe in the briefing) - or perhaps join those of us who are thinking about sneaking off for an early dinner - leaving time to RPG into the late evening!

I'm following Nick Cole's lead from last year and writing a shorter scenario to accomodate the shorter gametime.

As I was barely at Kapcon last year, I wasn't aware the round was officially shortened.

Though I also agree that time is needed for the LARP, its a shame that the best "horror" round got crimped.

Well.. not really. Fright Night had 16 player slots this year. Running with the smaller group size that I encouraged, that eeked out to 5 games. But at the larger KapCon, with it's more typical 5/6 player slots that means only 3 games-ish. And fundamentally, I knew everyone at Fright Night except for one or two people - at KapCon there's always dozens and dozens of people that I don't know. That means a much wider selection of players and games...

But thanks for the shout-out. I hope next year to fill the con a bit earlier, and perhaps scare up another GM so we can have two rounds of 5 games.
