We just had a meeting to work out what the story is going to be this year.

Everything will be running much the same, with a slight change of the facilitator lineup (we have swapped Malcolm for Sophie*; no jet-setting designer celebrity visits).

In order to get games going a little more quickly each session, we'd like people interested in particular games to contact us before the round starts so that we can schedule it in. Rather than the fairly free form pitch sessions of previous years, we'll be beginning each session with a menu of games to pick from (the ones we really want to run, plus anything requested earlier). There'll still be a chance to ask for something else, but that menu will be what we expect to run. Your best chance for a particular game will be to come and ask in the break before the round starts.

We're also going to open up for anyone else who has a hankering to run a game to drop in for a round (or several) and facilitate something. Come see us, say what you'd like to run in what round and we'll add your game to the menu.

Yell out here if you have a request (getting in before we have even decided what to bring along is probably a good tactic), think you might do some drop-in facilitating or just want to rant about what we're planning.

* This is not to suggest that Malcolm and Sophie are in some sense interchangeable.

This isn't the first time they have done this. I am beginning to wonder if I have to demand to see them both in the same room Smile

I can assure you we are two very different people. For starters he's Scottish and has facial hair.

I'm sad not to be coming to Kapcon 2010, as the past two years have provided some wonderful experiences. However, Sophie will be a great asset to the GoD crew and bring her customary verve and enthusiasm to all the games she facilitates.

I'm sure, though, that CGS would again be delighted to provide some GoD prizes.

Cheers
Malc

I'm going to be pitching in particular:

FreeMarket, where you play people in the future on a space station with no death and a reputation based economy. You can pretty much pick anything you want to do and try, and if the other inhabitants of the station think it's cool then you'll succeed. So... murder for hire co-op, power company, custom pet engineering, illicit memory hacking... you can pretty much go for it. We had a lot of fun in my regular group's one-off playtest. Nifty custom card mechanics for conflict resolution.

Ganakagok. An Inuit-ish tribe live on a giant iceberg under the stars, but change is coming. You play the people in the tribe who know that everything is going to change, and have to try and guide the people through it okay, or maybe you want to destroy them. Looks like it will create really nice myth & legend style stories. Another custom card deck is used for inspiration and some mechanical bits. My favourite card: 8 of Tears, "aiviqota apkala" (two walruses battle). Fear the 2 of Flames, kadlupayun the cannibal-ghoul.

Bliss Stage!
It's the future, and all the adults are asleep, and aliens have invaded their dreams. Teenagers have to fight back by entering the dream-world piloting mecha made of love. Crazy dream-world action and intense real-world emotion, in a world on the verge...

I'll have other stuff too, but this is the one I want to give a good run to.

POISON'D

A game about Pirates by the creator of Dogs in the Vineyard. In the year of Our Lord 1701, did end the bloody career of the pirate Captain Jonathan Abraham Pallor, known on the seas as Brimstone Jack. He did not die by hanging or the sword, but by poison administered to him by his cook. You are the crew of Jack's ship - as the game begins, the traitorous cook is begging for mercy before you, the HMS Resolute is in pursuit, and the ship needs a new captain.

Poison'd is about what happens next.

The game will almost certainly contain adult sexual material, player character vs. player character conflict, and terrible terrible violence. Also, I've never run it before, so that should be interesting.

BAD FAMILY

Bad Family is the game of animated sit-coms (think Simpsons or Family Guy). Come and play the adventures of the dysfunctional Jones family as they have the worst day of their lives.

As with any family, Bad Family has a winner and several losers. You can increase your chances of winning by putting the other players' family members into horrible situations. Previous games have involved such horrors as defusing a nuclear bomb, trying to prove to your kids that you're cool, and meeting ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

The sleeper hit of Kapcon 2006 returns, re-edited and ready for more. The genre of animated family sit-com RPGs has just increased by one!

Yay, we have Simon back as a facilitator.

Somewhat.

So slightly more games on demand in the sessions that he is present. He isn't saying which ones that will be, though, so coming along to g.o.d. means you might have a surprise Simon running your game! It's like a lucky dip, except instead of a cheap plastic toy, you will be doing roleplaying. Also we won't be wrapping him up (we won't stop other people doing this if you really want to).

I am considering running an 'Introduction to Sorceror' at Games on Demand. Shout out if you're someone who's already heard a bit about Sorceror and are interested in checking it out.

Sorceror is an intense RPG where players drive the story by playing people who want something so badly that they are prepared to make a bargain with a demon to get it.

If I get one or two people (three, max) interested, what I'll do is a session of full-on character creation session and as much of an adventure based off that material as we've got time for. If (and only *IF*) people are then interested, I'll prep overnight and we'll run a full-on session of it on Day 2.

Let me know if that sounds like something you'd be into.
