Realising this was my eighth Kapcon, both consecutively and in total, I am wondering if it's possible to find out who's been the most hardcore Kapcon attendee. Because I reckon there must be plenty who've done more (Morgue, Luke, Mike S and James P spring to mind) and some who've been to more than eight in a row. Has anyone made it to all 18? _________________ All the energy of a rat, trapped in a can |

My guess is that Malcolm and Donna would have been pretty close, except for missing this year They attended 2 Kapcons before the 1st one I did, which was Kapcon 7. So that's Kapcon 5. I don't think any current attendee has been to an earlier Kapcon than that.
As to early Kapcon i.e. Kapcon 1 and 2 these were actually wargaming conventions up in Kapiti. I recently connected up with some of the guys who attended Kapcon 1 (they even gave me one of the flyers and I gave it to Paul). It was quite different.
Idiot has collated the most complete history of the matter here: http://kapcon.rpg.net.nz/?q=history
Oh, and no one could have attended 18 Kapcons as there has only ever been 16 _________________ Playing: Doomstones (WFRP2e); Shades of Terra (Exalted: Dragonblooded)

I don't know what number it was, but the first Kapcon I went to was in January 1995 at the Museum Hotel.
Following that, the only ones I've missed were in 2001 (trip away), and 2006 (wedding).
So if someone with a brain can work out how many I've attended, that is how hardcore I am at attending Kapcon. _________________ Running:WFRP 2E, D&D4e, Exalted 2E, Werewolf: The Apocalypse

I can tell you that, if no-one wants to get iffy about their privacy.

Given that my records only go back to 1997 (and are a bit patchy then), I wouldn't know. _________________ Playing: ArM5 - Fons Albae; Pendragon: Defenders of Sarum

I've been to 10 consecutive Kapcons (1999 to 2009). So I think I'm doing pretty well _________________ 'Whatever happens, happens...' |

I actually have you down for 12 in a row (since 1998, VUWSA ballroom).
Only one person has been to more kapCons than you. And it isn't me. _________________ Playing: ArM5 - Fons Albae; Pendragon: Defenders of Sarum

I remember playing in a game at Kapcon 95 run by Anthony Dooley (who incidentally won most nominated GM this year.)
Is it him, Idiot? _________________ Running:WFRP 2E, D&D4e, Exalted 2E, Werewolf: The Apocalypse

Nope.
And actually, I was wrong - there are two people who have been to more KapCons than Nick. And one of them is you (allowing for the 96 and 95 cons which I don't have records on). _________________ Playing: ArM5 - Fons Albae; Pendragon: Defenders of Sarum

Is that right I/S? My memory may be totally incorrect, of course.
Edit: Yes, I count 12 I have attended from the history page. |
Correct.
I have 289 people active in the database. 72 of them have been to more than 5 KapCons; 11 have been to more than 10: 2 to 13, 3 to 12, and 6 to 11 (including me).
I should note that there may be a few holes in the data, particularly in the early years. _________________ Playing: ArM5 - Fons Albae; Pendragon: Defenders of Sarum

Hey, this is a fun thread - do you know how many I've been to? I think this was my first missed one in a while... |

My attendance has been patchy for the last 8 years - although I might be able to confirm from Willis Hotel (Kapcon 5??) through to Gorman House (Idiot - you can confirm the years there)...
I do remember that the numbering was "inconsistant" from before I started and afterward... as there may have only been 3-5 Kapcons beforehand... (Museum Hotel once or twice, and the Kapiti coast before that)...
Notables from Willis Hotel were - Mash, George Sadlier, Zak, the big dude that went to lots of these things - er.. Slayer was his handle, Martjin (in fact most of Georges Shadowrun crew)... _________________ Ta Dan |
