Hey all,

A group of us are starting up a game of the new Smallville RPG on Thursday evenings. There are currently two spaces left if anyone is keen to play.

Smallville is a superhero roleplaying game that focuses on the relationships between the characters and what those relationships drive them to do. This is a television show style game, and players can either be heroes or villains - the game is very much a communally created experience with the GM acting more as a facilitator than a controller of the plot.

If you are interested either PM me or e-mail me at evinshir@gmail.com

It is good to see Margaret Weiss Press coming out with a system that fits the material, rather than just slapping a different TV show name on the Cortex system. I'm excited to see how this runs, the playtests were intriguing.

Interesting, what time on Thursdays would the game start? (and what location/suburb) are we talking about?

Meeting around 6:30pm on Thursdays in Wadestown. We're looking to start next week. Smile

I was just reading http://rdonoghue.blogspot.com/2010/07/bring-on-batman.html

It seems to me that by evading the skills/power paradigm and focusing on the dramatic aspects of the game, this system has already solved most of the problems that Rob is having with his superhero games. His mileage may vary. Smile

Certainly more tempted* to play this supers system than any other. Looks to deliver a supers game without needing a supercomputer handy to crunch numbers for character generation a la WildTalents.

* and by tempted, I mean, I'm one of the three players signed up to play.

Because of the way it manages characters and traits - it is also a great fit for something like Angel or Buffy the Vampire Slayer too - possibly even more so than the actual licenced games! Smile

I certainly like how powers are treated as plot devices rather than being mechanically complex. Superman's powers work because the narrative requires them to. I like how the game rewards players for deliberately complicating the story or disadvantaging themselves in compelling ways.

A very clever little system. Smile
