One nice thing about Kapcon is the opportunity to put faces to names, and one nice thing about the post-con threads is being able to share comments about games. But since many people use real names at Kapcon but opaque handles online it's not always easy to match up people on NZRaG (etc.) with people you meet or vice versa.
Is it worth putting an *optional* "online ID" into the registration, which could then be printed on the badge somewhere, for example in a bottom corner, or in bracketed small text after the real name? |

Thirded. I kept introducing myself to people I didn't know/recognise, and then adding my usual handle in case that helped. |

Interesting. For the past few years they've put "Mash" on my namebadge even though I've said each time I'd prefer "Alasdair"... _________________ The opinions prevalent in one age... are confuted and rejected in another and rise again to reception in remoter times. Good thinking Ivan, I'll put this on the list.

The name on the name badge came from the registration details. Update your name there and it should be right for next time.

Name badges are produced for everyone who pre-registers. Make sure you do next year and it'll be waiting for you! _________________ Playing: Doomstones (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying)

I'm such a raging egotist I just assume everyone knows who I am anyway.
Although at the after-party I did hear Anna say "So that's housemonkey" which led me to think I didn't want to find out which of the numerous dumb comments I've made here had caught her attention. _________________ All the energy of a rat, trapped in a can |

I've been reading these forums for a few years, and am still working on matching real names to forum names. "housemonkey" was one I hadn't solved until that moment

No, someone has manually tweaked it. I have never ever ever ever ever put "Mash Sinclair" on any form anywhere. If I put my handle, I put the full thing, and if I put my last name I put "Alasdair" to go with it.
It's not a big deal, but it does mean I usually abandon my badge as soon as I'm into the con. I think Glock's suggestion of named t-shirts is good: next year I will do this too. _________________ The opinions prevalent in one age... are confuted and rejected in another and rise again to reception in remoter times.
