I think your a Spring Chicken. Spritely even

So yeah. Hmmmmm Mayan apoc could be cool. so to Gangsters (though someone remind me if this hasnt been done while I was out of the country) or Hong Kong.

My concern is writing for 80 people and having a concept that can extend that far, maintain coherency, and be engaging for all attendees

Well with this discussion of a Wellington LARPcon there may soon be a venue for those options that would have difficulty at that size.

There have certainly been gangsters in some of the games, but none centered on them that I can think of. (Except Scott's "guys in a lockup" game, which I suspect won't scale up to 80).

Buckets did gangsters last year, and we had Mafia 2021 a while ago (which, while different, did draw on a lot of the stock gangster relationships).

Actually, a Mayan Apocalypse larp could mean many things to different people. I was thinking pseudo-historical, but it could also be modern. I'm not nearly as interested in modern...

From reading Collapse, it'd be like Al Shir-ma, but with no happy endings.

I'm not sure if the happy-ending memo really got to many members of the merchants guild.

Okay, okay. In any case, I didn't remember it.

I think there was a gangsters subplot in Flight of the Hindenburg as well? It's a popular theme - clearly someone should write it and make Ants and Mike Sands competing dons...

what? where did that come from?

To be honest, I'm most keen on a Roman game. If there's a character like Cato from Simon Scarrow's Eagle series, I'll sign up instantly.

Yes we had a subplot involving the Al Capone vs Bugs Moran that involved a bunch of people.

I'm pretty keen for Romans myself. Though if the choice were between Greek and Roman I wouldn't know which to back. I love the Greeks, but a Roman Larp would be pretty damn amazing.

Including a Maya, Aztec and Inca groups together is about as historic as having a "precontact Old World" LARP that included the 4 cultures of the Romans, the Persians, the Bantu and the Vikings. I don't mean that as a reason not to do such a 'Mayan' LARP: just that if we do so we should acknowledge we're going for something based on our culture's myths about the Mayan/Aztec/Inca rather anything historic. Then we can make up our mythic cultures as we wish, with that sort of "flavour" to them.

I don't know, a lot of Aztec and Mayan mythology is easy to find.

What would be very cool would the return of the Olmecs Smile

Also: I vaguely remember that at various points in Mayan history, the currency was chocolate and coffee beans.

Cheers

I believe the best way to maintain the costuming style of the Nun Larp while adding interest would instead be the Penguin Colony LARP.

And it has the obvious Cthulhu element.

(Those penguins aren't just dancing about potato chips...)
