If someone posts a looking for people to play post, maybe people should NOT fill it up with an argument about which game they ought to play? At least, not unless they ask for suggestions.

Alternatively, a moderator could step in, split the thread and push that discussion to the new topic..?

I reckon! , that bloody Luke needs to watch his posting behavior.

So disrespectful.....Very Happy

On the other hand my idea is if people think other people's posting is following a not cool pattern then maybe the should politely pm those people rather than engaging in passive aggressive posting elsewhere on the forum...

There's nothing passive about it.

I think that the way people were posting in that thread was unwelcoming and unhelpful for a new forum user.

Ok, so what is a different way you could have initially communicated your thoughts and the desire for people to not do that sort of posting that may be more effective and elicit the behavior you are after?

I just wanted to call out what I saw as somewhat antisocial behavior. Nothing more or less.

Ok, I can see your underlying point but I would have preferred a pm or a post on the initial thread outlining your thoughts.

The initial post on this thread felt like a public and somewhat churlish name and shame.

I guess I always go back to how I work with my team. If I need to point out some unacceptable behavior, I have a quiet word to those involved not make a public denouncement that embarrasses the offenders.

Just thought I should post to say that I have seen this thread and noted Mike's comments, though I have nothing to add. I am happy to take it up with other mods if anyone feels it is worthwhile.
