Welcome to the last official meeting of the VUW Games Club for the first trimester 2006.

We meet on Friday evening, centred around the Collins Room. Go to the Student Union building atrium and look for our signs.

Wellington has two annual Roleplaying Conventions: KapCON in January and CONfusion in August. CONfusion is a one day convention consisting of three rounds of gaming. There will be both roleplaying games, run by both the Games Club regulars and others from around Wellington. There are also Board Games on offer, many of which have not been demonstrated by Nasia at the Games Club. CONfusion is on August the 12th at Turnbull House on Bowen Street, which is across the road from the Beehive. Head down the terrace, hang a right and you're there.

Some of the games that are on offer are:
Angry Sharky, Stolen Dragon, the latest installment of Mike Foster's very popular London gangster series,
The Storm Breaks, a modern day fantasy game by Alasdair Sinclair (who has run the various Zombie Games over the term)
Fury of Dracula, a 5 player board game set in the 1890s and moderated by Luke Walker (who ran Death in Freeport a few weeks ago)
There will also be games from Zak Clarke (who runs on of the Ulkarnis streams), Steve Hickey who won the Kapcon Best GM award earlier this year and the always experimental Mike Sands who wrote Bad Ass Space Marines, that ran last week.

More details, as well as a discussion of the whole thing can be found at www.NZRaG.com

Also coming up on the 6th of June is WARGS, the Wellington Area Roleplaying Game Society. WARGS has a greater focus on roleplaying. It also offers one-shot roleplaying games at its meetings, but the main foci of the meetings are:

- General networking in the wider Wellington Roleplaying Community. For those looking for games outside of Friday night, WARGS is a good place to start.

- Guided game discussions. There is a regular Q&A session where members can bring any questions about roleplaying and discuss it with a group of other roleplayers. They also stage targetted discussions about various aspects of Roleplaying throughout the year. This has included discussions ranging from theory to writing convention scenarios to how to get into character. There is no specific forum this meeting, but the WARGS exec will be taking suggestions.

WARGS meetings officially start at 7 PM, but people often meet starting at 6 PM for more general socializing.

A new wargaming/boardgaming/roleplaying store has opened in Wellington! Wargames Supplies is located underground in the walkway between the BNZ Centre and the Old Bank Arcade. It stocks a growing range of Wargaming and Roleplaying products as well as Board Games. Check out its website: http://www.wargames.co.nz/

This week we have a one-shot game from Mike Foster:

Bachelor Party
Sharky's nephew is getting married in the morning so the lads are assigend to show him a good time and keep him out of trouble. Should be easy, after all it's not like he's going to have any major enemies now is it?

See everyone on Friday!

Well, I'd have mentioned that if you'd told me that it was the case.
